FROM: Steve Harrison

Imagine this:

You’re sitting in your local movie theater, enjoying a sold-out screening of the latest movie that’s got everyone talking, and is raking in big box office.

It’s one of those movies people love from start to finish, with a gripping story… intriguing characters… beautiful camera work… stirring music. Everyone watching laughs or gasps or sniffles at just the right moments, they’re so caught up in it all.

The movie ends, the audience applauds, and the credits start to roll…

And as one particular credit scrolls past—“Based on the book by…”—you overhear people saying things like…

“That was such a great movie—I bet the book is incredible!”

“The person who wrote that book must be super-talented. What a great story they had to share!”

“I’m getting my hands on that book right away!

And then someone notices you and says, “Hey—isn’t that the author right there?”

It takes you a long time to leave the theater because so many people are coming up to congratulate you and shake your hand. After all, everybody wants to meet the author!

Don’t think it could happen to you?

Well, it never will until you get your work—your self-published novel or memoir, your manuscript in progress, even a collection of blog posts you’ve written over the years—on an A-list Hollywood producer’s desk to be evaluated.

I’m going to show you how!

If you’ve always dreamed about...

...Seeing the characters in your book come to life on the big screen

...Having your personal story turned into a movie that can inspire others

...Turning your experience and expertise into a weekly television series that broadens your influence

...Seeing your name up in lights or walking down the red carpet for the Oscars, enjoying fame and financial freedom

… then I want you to know about the fastest way possible to get your work in front of a Hollywood producer who can bring it to the screen on your behalf.

6 Reasons Every Current and Aspiring Author Should Try To Sell their Work's Movie Rights to Hollywood

My name is Steve Harrison. I’ve dedicated the past 20+ years of my life to helping authors and entrepreneurs promote their books, products and services.

I’ve been directly or indirectly responsible for getting over 12,000 published and self-published authors booked on radio and TV talk shows. That’s more than any PR firm on the planet.

My team and I helped launch such bestselling books as Chicken Soup for the Soul, Rich Dad Poor Dad, the Finish Rich series, and the Dummies series, to name just a few.

Now I'd like to help YOU too.

I’ve personally talked with thousands of writers. I know many of them dream of turning their books into movies. And I've seen for myself how their lives change for the better when that happens.

Sadly, I’ve also seen authors with books that would make great Hollywood projects fall flat on their faces, all because they didn’t have the right connections or know the right things to do.

That's why I've teamed up with a Hollywood insider to create a program specifically for helping authors and writers sell the movie rights to their work.

And there are plenty of reasons you should want to:

  1. It’s a HUGE opportunity for you to sell your content and story to another market and get paid handsomely for it.

It happened for Amanda Hocking. She was far from your typical bestselling author. She self-published on Amazon and sold most of her books as ebooks. But Hollywood loved her Trylle Trilogy so much they bought the rights to all three books for over ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

  2. It can increase sales of your current book and all your future books too. Millions of movie and TV fans buy books after watching the movie or TV show.

Rex Pickett, author of the novel Sideways, said, “Looking back, I wish I hadn’t taken the measly $5,000 advance from the publisher. Had I waited until the film was released, I’m told the book would have sold for $1,000,000.”

  3. Turning your book into a movie or TV show can make it easier to get your next book deal, from a bigger publisher and with an even bigger advance. It gives you incredible leverage.

I’ll use Amanda Hocking as an example again. After Hollywood paid $1 million for her self-published Trylle Trilogy, publishing giant St. Martin’s paid her a $2 million advance for her Waterson book series!

  4. A fast growing industry within Hollywood specializes in turning self-published books ("How to" titles, motivational books, highly personal autobiographical stories) into movies, TV series, and reality shows. This is ideal for authors who write about very niche topics.

  5. Hollywood is actively looking for books to adapt.

According to Christopher Lockhart, story editor at Hollywood superagency WME, "Adaptations are super-hot right now." And Ryan Condal, who sold his first script, Galahad, for $500,000 says, "Probably 99% of the active projects in Hollywood are adaptations of one kind or another."

  6. Hollywood is FUN and EXCITING!

You get to go on the movie set, meet your movie's leading actors, "do lunch" with directors in ritzy LA restaurants. Mike Mignola, the author of Hellboy who has seen his comic books turned into movies, says, “The [director] wanted me there... And I was treated great because everybody knew I was Del Toro’s pal.”

And there’s another reason why you should seriously look toward Hollywood for your next big payday...

Hollywood Has MORE Money to Offer Authors than the Publishing World Does!

Although print books overall have enjoyed a modest comeback in recent years, not every kind of book is doing well. Adult fiction slipped 1% last year. Mass market books dropped over 7%. And, regardless of sales, about 26% of American adults told Pew Research they didn’t read a book, in whole or in part, in any form, in 2016 at all!

On the other hand, Hollywood’s worldwide box office receipts reached a record $38.6 billion in 2016. That’s a 17% increase from five years ago, and an overall gain of 95% from 2002. By 2020, global box office should hit almost $50 billion.

Movies and TV shows routinely reach millions, sometimes hundreds of millions of people all over the world. Very often, book sales will reach levels like that only after a movie of the book has been made.

Here's a mind-numbing number: It’s estimated the movie Avatar will eventually bring in between $12 billion and $15 billion between movie and DVD sales. That’s NEARLY DOUBLE THE TOTAL OF ALL TRADE (non-textbook) BOOK SALES FROM U.S. PUBLISHERS for the entire preceding year!

Even though print is far from dead, we’re living in an increasingly digital culture.

That’s why it’s important for you to pitch your book, future book or story to Hollywood today.

And right now one of the hottest trends in Hollywood is to create movies adapted from books, manuscripts and stories.

Hollywood is Desperately Hungry for
New and Fresh Content!

When I was growing up there were 3 national broadcast TV networks: ABC, CBS, and NBC. We had PBS, too, and a few local, low-power stations. But that was it!

Heck, I remember TV actually turned off at about 1:00 am. They’d play “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and that was it until news (or, better yet, cartoons) at the crack of dawn.

And my local movie theater (not a cinema) was a building with one movie screen. They played two movies at a time, tops.

Back then (and boy do I feel old saying that) Hollywood didn’t need tens of thousands of script ideas for movies and TV shows.

But times have changed.

Today movie and TV entertainment is a 24-hour, 7 days a week business.

There are dozens of broadcast channels. THOUSANDS of cable stations.

Not to mention more movie studios, more independent film studios and filmmakers, and multiplexes that show up to 16 films at once.

And brand-new media outlets are coming into their own, like Video On Demand, Theater On Demand, online entertainment, streaming video services...

There are also have new niche markets such as in-flight entertainment for airplanes and educational programming just for schools.

The entertainment world is more diverse than EVER, but all these outlets have one thing in common. They all need fresh and new creative content.

And where are they looking for tomorrow's hot new movies and TV shows?

Best-selling novels... obscure books... non-fiction "how to" guides... short stories... magazine essays... personal and intimate biographies and autobiographies... blog posts... comic books... history texts...

Hollywood studios are gobbling it all up because the need for new ideas, new stories, new content is SO great.

Why shouldn’t YOU get in on that action?

And, as you’ll see in a moment, don’t think you have to be a world famous, best selling author to be offered a movie deal.

Theater On Demand is the
Self-Published Author’s
Best Friend In Hollywood

You may not be familiar with the term Theater On Demand, but I've bet you’ve seen coming attractions for it in your local theater.

Those operas, concerts and other special events that are shown on the big screen for one or two nights only? That's Theater On Demand.

And if you’re a self-published author, it may help you get your foot in a Hollywood producer's door!

Because these events screen only once or twice and still make money—as opposed to needing a 7-week run with 3-5 screenings a day (like mainstream Hollywood movies)—it’s a market frequently more open to self-published authors. Hollywood can make profitable Theater On Demand entertainment about many self-published books’ niche subjects.

Imagine Your Book Reaching MAJOR Audiences as the Source of Netflix, Amazon or Hulu's Next Big Hit!

I mentioned streaming services earlier. They’re completely transforming the TV business. Now the public, not network advertising execs, get to decide what really is “must-see TV”… and when we’re going to watch it.

Netflix had nearly 94 million members worldwide at the end of 2016. 47 million people in the U.S. watch Hulu. Amazon Prime members watch video about 13 times a month.

Why does the streaming video revolution matter to you as a writer?

To keep subscribers excited (and to sign up more), Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon are investing increasing amounts of money in original productions… some of the most wildly popular and highly acclaimed films and series to come out of Hollywood in a long time…

And a lot of them are (you guessed it) based on books!

13 Reasons WhyHouse of CardsThe Handmaid’s Tale… The Man in the High CastleChanceOrange is the New BlackA Series of Unfortunate Events11.22.63Bosch

All based on books!

As streaming services put out more and more original content, they’ll be looking for more and more source material. Why shouldn’t they look to your work for their next big hit?

Hollywood’s Long History Of
Adapting Books To Screen

You’re probably familiar with many of the films based on books, including Gone With The Wind, Mutiny on the Bounty, Ben-Hur, West Side Story, The Godfather, Forrest Gump and thousands of others.

But did you know according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDB) 29,218 movies started out as books?

When I first saw that number I had to do a double take. It’s HUGE!

Heck, I didn’t even know that many movies had been made in total, much less that many made based just on books.

But Hollywood LOVES turning books into movies because it can be incredibly profitable.

As of right now, three of the top 10, six of the top 20, and over 50 of the top 100 highest-grossing films of all time are adaptations from books, comics, historical events, toys–even amusement park rides!

Here’s a list of the top ten movies which have been adapted to the screen from other sources, and their gross sales to date:

Titanic - $2,186,800,000

Marvel’s The Avengers - $1,518,800,000

Avengers: Age of Ultron - $1,405,400,000

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 - $1,341,500,000

Iron Man 3 - $1,214,800,000

Captain America: Civil War - $1,153,300,000

Transformers: Dark of the Moon - $1,123,800,000

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King - $1,119,900,000

Transformers: Age of Extinction - $1,104,100,000

The Dark Knight Rises - $1,084,900,000

And remember, these are just the top ten adaptations. Over half of the 100 highest grossing movies of all time are adaptations!

And the trend of turning books (as well as magazine articles, comic books and even blog posts) into movies is as strong as it’s ever been. In fact...

Did you know three of the nine films nominated for Best Picture in 2017 were adapted from books?

There were even more the year before. Of those nine Best Picture nominees, EIGHT were based on or adapted from books – including the smash hit The Martian, starring Matt Damon, adapted from Andy Weir’s originally self-published novel. It grossed over $228 million!

If you’re a keen-eyed observer, you've noticed many books I've mentioned are fiction.

But I have GREAT news for you if you're a non-fiction author...

Hollywood Also Loves Making Movies
“Based On A True Story”

Even though the movie Titanic was fiction, it’s based on non-fiction.

Hollywood will often use a non-fiction book to create a fiction movie. So the all-time top-grossing adapted movie was adapted from non-fiction source material!

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, “You just couldn’t make this stuff up!” Well, in many cases in Hollywood, it’s true. And it’s why Hollywood continues to buy the movie rights to non-fiction books and stories. The writers in Hollywood just can’t make this stuff up!

So if you’re a non-fiction author, rest assured: That very personal story you labored over and lived can actually become a movie or TV series that will help you spread your message, especially considering the cable TV market, Video On Demand, Theater On Demand, streaming services… There are just SO many more options than there used to be, and they’re all looking for great content like yours.

Non-fiction books that have been adapted to the big screen include...

The French Connection: A True Account of Cops, Narcotics, and International Conspiracy (1969)

Awakenings

The Basketball Diaries

Friday Night Lights: A Town, a Team and a Dream

Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War

Bravo Two Zero

Charlie Wilson’s War

Dispatches (Movie title: Apocalypse Now)

Full Metal Jacket

Escape from Alcatraz

The Gangs of New York: An Informal History of the Underworld

Lost Moon: The Perilous Voyage of Apollo 13 (Movie Title: Apollo 13)

The Perfect Storm

The Blind Side

Even though all these films are fiction or fictionalized, they started out as non-fiction books.

Do you think the non-fiction authors were troubled when their non-fiction works were turned into fiction movies? I’m sure any issues they had were resolved as they cashed their checks from selling the rights to the book and residual checks they received in the mail.

Now you know why you so often see “Based on a true story” or “Based on actual events” when you watch a movie.

Studios are Making More and More Movies from Unpublished Books (and even from Social Media!)

Hollywood outsiders tend to think only best-selling authors get offers to turn their books into movies. But nothing is further from the truth. For example...

When The Horse Whisperer was published in 1995, every paper and magazine reviewed the book. Not because it was a great book. The book was an immediate hit because Robert Redford had bought it for the screen before author Nicholas Evans had finished writing it.

Matthew Quirk sold the screen rights to his then-unpublished novel, The 500, to 20th Century Fox for six figures after a fierce bidding war.

Justin Cronin sold film rights for his first novel, The Passage, after a five-day bidding war for $1.75 million—and it wasn’t even finished, let alone published, at the time!

Hollywood is more willing than old-school publishing companies to gamble on a book and invest time, money and resources into making it a movie, because the need for new content is so great and the potential financial payoff is so HUGE.

In fact, Hollywood is so hot to adapt movies from books, several first-time screenwriters have been advised to adapt their screenplays into books or comic books first, and then offer the original screenplays as adaptations!

Hollywood is actually re-writing the rules for how book deals get done!

That’s how powerful the phrase, “Adapted from the book by...” is in Hollywood right now.

And Hollywood is also going after other writing in addition to books, such as blogs and tweets.

CBS Studios turned Justin Halpern’s Twitter feed $#*! My Dad Says into a sitcom starting William Shatner. Comedy Central invested in a series based on the blog Stuff White People Like.

And that’s why RIGHT NOW is the perfect time for you to shop your work in Hollywood. The industry really needs the content, and is reaching outside traditional channels in order to get it.

That works to the benefit of writers like YOU.

4 Advantages Authors Have In Hollywood
Over Typical Script Writers

You’d think a veteran Hollywood scriptwriter would have an incredible advantage over a first-time author when selling a movie idea, wouldn’t you?

But guess what? The deck’s actually stacked in YOUR favor!

If two writers bring scripts to a Hollywood producer, but only one script is based on a book, the script with the book will get a deal first.

Why?

  1. When a script is submitted without a book, the producer must spend tens of thousands of dollars in development fees and costs. But a book with a script provides a goldmine of characters and storylines for the screenplay. The book saves literally hundreds and hundreds of hours and associated costs in character development.

  2. If your book has been published and has an audience, or if you have a following or a popular blog, that gives the studio a reason to develop your script into a movie. Producers know they have a built-in audience. A script without a book doesn’t come with a built-in audience, so it’s a bigger risk for a studio to take.

  3. When you have a book, cross-marketing and cross-promotion become exponentially easier. The popularity of the book helps the movie, and vice versa.

  4. If the studio wants to make sequels or a TV series that runs for many years, it will need your book's other plot lines and characters—depth only a book can give.
The 6-Step Formula that Gets
Your Book SOLD in Hollywood

As an author and writer, you know how the publishing world works.

Hollywood is totally different.

You can’t just send your book to a movie agent or producer. It won’t get read.

And don’t think you can purchase a screenwriting software program, copy and paste parts of your book into it, and call the end result a screenplay. It’ll go into the garbage.

To boost your odds of getting a producer to read and reply to your book, here are six simple steps you need to keep in mind when writing it:

  1. Make your book or book idea as “movie-genic” it can be. Hollywood thinks visually. When producers read your book or treatment, they’re visualizing how the characters will look on screen. So when writing, you need to inject “movie-centric” value into your book.

For example, what’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone reads the title of your book? HBO bought the film rights to the book The Viagra Diaries. That title instantly puts a visual in your mind, doesn’t it?

  2. Know what kind of movie or show your book can appropriately be. Not every book is going to be a hundred million dollar blockbuster. You need to visualize how your book can be adapted to the screen. Is it a movie? Is it a TV series? Is it a documentary? Is it a reality show?

  3. Determine the right market and identify the potential buyers in that market. Just like certain publishing houses specialize in certain types of books, so do some producers and studios. If you have a reality show in mind, for example, work with a producer who specializes in reality shows.

  4. Make it easy for a buyer to say “Yes.” How? Simple. Create industry-specific materials for your book. Hollywood has very specific ways of creating loglines and treatises. Make sure your materials follow established and accepted Hollywood formats.

  5. Avoid Hollywood agents! Unless you’re already a “name” talent, it’s going to be really hard to find an agent willing to fight for you. Agents work on commission. And they know they’re more likely to get a big fat commission working with a star than a first-timer.

But an up and coming producer who specializes in your market and is hungry for a hit will go to bat for you and your work. Producers care about creating movies, not making commissions. And producers have “skin in the game.” So when you team up with a producer who shares your vision, you can be assured he or she will be as invested in seeing your book become a movie as you are.

  6. Know how to negotiate and make deals “Hollywood style." You need to know what deals look like and who the players are in each one so you can make the right deal for you and give yourself the best shot for turning your work into a movie or TV show.
WARNING:
Try to Sell Your Book Without Expert Help...
and Hollywood Will Eat You Alive!

Now that you see how much Hollywood needs fresh content...

Now that you’re aware how Hollywood producers are bending over backwards to adapt books to the screen...

And now that you know the six-step formula for pitching your book to Hollywood...

...You may think all you have to do is walk into a Hollywood producer’s office and say...

“Hey, I wrote a book and I hear you guys love
making movies adapted from books. Where’s my check?”

Well, it’s not that easy.

But I suspect you already knew that.

For a Hollywood insider or veteran Hollywood producer with connections, the above six steps are as simple as pie.

But to a Hollywood outsider, these six steps are mini-minefields!

One false step, and you risk blowing up your project and dream.

You see, Hollywood works by a special set or rules found nowhere else on earth.

Business in Hollywood, more than anywhere else, gets done by knowing someone. It’s all about connections.

Assuming your uncle isn’t Steven Spielberg or a big-time producer, you essentially need guidance from someone who knows how to work the system.

That's why you need the Sell Your Book to Hollywood Online Training Program from Hollywood insider Nat Mundel.

Nat knows how to get real results for authors who are shopping their work to Hollywood for the first time.

How Rebecca Crownover's Personal Tragedy Turned into a Hollywood Success Story

Rebecca Crownover can tell you how Nat and his team help authors get their stories turned into entertainment… and not the “mindless” variety, either.

The tiny town of Sunray, Texas, up near the top of the Lone Star State’s panhandle, is plenty far from Hollywood. And, if it hadn’t been for a heartbreaking tragedy, Rebecca, who grew up on her family’s farm in Sunray, might never have given Hollywood much thought.

But when Rebecca’s husband died, she found herself not only dealing with her own grief, but struggling to help her 2-1/2-year-old daughter cope with her loss, as well.

She looked for children’s books that might, but none really put into words all that she wanted her daughter, Acie, to know.

So Rebecca wrote a children’s book of her own to comfort Acie. Rebecca titled it, My Daddy Is In Heaven With Jesus.

When the book helped Acie, Rebecca thought it might help other grieving families, too. She published it through a company in Virginia.

Rebecca’s book went on to win several awards (including “Reader’s Choice” and “Best Children’s Book” from the Christian Literary Awards) and media coverage. Most important, she started getting letters from people around the world who told her that her book was making a difference for them and the kids they care about.

And that got Rebecca thinking: Maybe her story could help even more people as a movie.

Guess what? Now, it is!

Rebecca started working with Nat Mundel and his team to make it happen. “I was concerned whether a film based on my book had potential,” she says. “I couldn't have been better taken care of by Nat and his team. Not only did they get a script written, they got my movie cast, financed and in production.”

My Daddy’s in Heaven is now a finished film, starring Corbin Bernsen (of L.A. Law fame). Corbin even posted a link to Rebecca's book on his Facebook page, so all  his fans would know where to buy a copy!

Because faith-based films reach a huge market Hollywood is eager to connect with, it’s very likely the movie will have a big impact, bringing hope to audiences worldwide and deep personal satisfaction to Rebecca. She is one author who knows she’s making a difference.

She's got the movie to prove it.

Would you like to benefit from Nat Mundel’s expertise and experience, like Rebecca did?

Then you’ll definitely be interested in the Sell Your Book to Hollywood Online Training Program.

The Sell Your Book to Hollywood
Online
Training Program: A Road Map to Movie and TV Success for Authors and Writers

Module #1: "Creating Your Road Map To Hollywood" with Nat Mundel

Knowing that you’re not Hollywood savvy, Nat will start off with his “30,000-foot view of the industry” and why it matters to you as an author and how you can get on the fast-track to having your dreams of turning your book or story into a movie or TV show or series realized. He’ll show you the trends in Hollywood today and where Hollywood is heading and show you how to take advantage of the most exciting and innovative opportunities that exist in Hollywood right now. In short, Nat will help you avoid wasting years (or even decades) of your life headed down fruitless paths and instead help you define a clear and actionable strategy that can help you get your book on the screen. During his module, he will reveal:
  • Why finding a Hollywood agent should be the last thing on your mind (and what you should do first instead).
  • The greatest new opportunities in Hollywood that you absolutely must know about (and how to take advantage of them).
  • The hidden rewards of working as an insider in Hollywood (and why they matter to you as an author).
  • Nat’s vision of the future for self-published authors in entertainment—it’s a rosy one!

Module #2: "The Vital First Step: How To Determine If Your Book Is A Movie, TV Series Or Direct To Video?" with Maher Jafari

Maher Jafari has served as Director of Development for high-profile production companies at three major studios and has been instrumental on over 400 episodes of television shows/projects, including hit primetime comedies, documentaries, and live events. He is most currently producing a reality series based on his acquisition of the self-published novel Granny Needs A Four-Wheel-Drive.

In this module, Maher shows you the quickest, surest way for making your book-to-screen process easy and pleasant by making sure you nail down the critical first step in packaging your book for Hollywood: determining whether your book is best suited to be turned into a movie, TV series, or a direct to video production. Unfortunately, too many authors botch this essential first step, and waste a year or more pitching their idea to the wrong markets—and ruining their reputations in Hollywood. Maher will help you make sure that doesn’t happen to you by showing you:

  • An overview of the various markets available for book adaptations, including feature films, TV movies, scripted series, reality TV and web series.
  • The Cardinal Sin you NEVER want to commit when pitching your book to a producer or movie studio. Do this just once and Hollywood producers will never take your calls again.
  • How to create the “Path Of Least Resistance” when selling your book to the outlet it’s best suited for.
  • An in-depth look at feature film book adaptations that worked, including Memoirs of a Geisha and Erin Brockovich.
  • How to set up your book so you can sell it as a TV series.
  • And much more information and insight on how to best pitch your book to the medium most likely to buy it.
  • PLUS… You’ll also get Maher’s Worksheet Grid, a great tool for figuring out the top 3 Hollywood markets for your book or story.

Module #3: "What Are Hollywood Buyers Buying Today?" with Jesse Israel

Jesse Israel is a feature film producer at Ineffable Pictures in Los Angeles. His upcoming projects include Aaron & Sara, starring Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson and directed by Neil Patrick Harris, The Late Bloomer starring Elijah Wood, and The Tiger’s Curse, based on the self-published novel of the same name. Jesse also spent many years as an executive and Vice President at Alcon Entertainment, where he shepherded such movies as The Blind Side, The Book of Eli, Lottery Ticket, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.

In this module, Jesse shows you the specific companies in your chosen market most likely to buy your book. He starts with an easy-to-understand crash course on how the industry works and then shows you how to find your best-suited market’s buyers. Jesse will not only identify your book’s best end buyers but also explain what they most want to see from authors, so you’ll be able to tailor your pitch to their needs and skew the odds in favor of selling your story.

During this module, Jesse will reveal:

  • The differences between big studios (with special focus on 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, Universal and The Walt Disney Company) and small feature studios in what they look for from book adaptations.
  • What kind of stories TV networks want, including CBS, NBS, The CW, ABC and Fox.
  • A breakdown of the major buyers in the cable world, including USA, TNT, TBS, FX, A&E, Lifetime, AMC and others.
  • How to break into the reality show market (ideal for non-fiction authors).
  • How to position your work as entertainment or educational so you can give studios exactly what they’re looking for.
  • And much more critical information on how a complete unknown author with a self-published book can tip the scales in his or her favor when dealing with Hollywood for the first time.

Module #4: "Hollywood Dealmaking 101 and Beyond: Making Your Book and Yourself Irresistible To Hollywood" with Bristol Baughan

Bristol Baughan is an Emmy-winning and Oscar-Nominated film producer and social entrepreneur. Baughan provides private investors, brands, international organizations and non-profits with the creative expertise and network of artists to translate the most interesting version of their stories to further their missions. During her time as Co-Founder of Reason Pictures/GOOD Magazine, she built a slate of Oscar nominated and Emmy winning feature films and documentaries including By The People: The Election Of Barack Obama (HBO), Which Way Home (HBO), Son of Rambow (Paramount) and Racing Dreams (POV).

In the last two modules, you learned your starting strategy and your end game. Now Bristol fills in the gap, revealing the entire Hollywood sales process and showing you the behind-the-scenes politics of the players and their agendas. She examines the way successful authors sell to studios and networks. By the end of this module, you’ll know how to make your adaptation and yourself incredibly appealing to your book’s potential buyers. Bristol’s session will deliver:

  • An overview of how successful deal makers, producers as well as writers/directors sell their stories
  • Agents' and managers' roles in making deals (while agents are all but useless to you as a first-time author pitching your project to Hollywood, agents become critical to your success during the negotiation process).
  • What do deal makers look for when considering a project?
  • How to research and contact the right people at the right agencies who are most likely to take on and fight for your project.
  • How do you determine who has your best interest at stake when shopping a book or story?
  • The Producer’s role in bringing your work to the screen.
  • And Bristol includes her Flowchart that simplifies the process of determining the Hollywood buyers most likely to want to buy the movies rights to your book.

Module #5: "Making Contact: How To Breakthrough To People Who Normally Don’t Take Calls From People They Don’t Know" with Elizabeth Kushman

Elizabeth Kushman is a 10-year veteran of the entertainment industry who got her start as an office Production Assistant on Wes Craven’s Dracula 2000. She continued working with Craven as his Creative Executive, developing such films as Pulse, Cursed and The Hills Have Eyes. From 2008-10, Elizabeth was Vice President of Development & Production at Dimension Films, where she supervised a diverse slate including Halloween 2, Youth In Revolt, The Road and Scream 4.

By this point in the program you’ll know how to make your book irresistible to Hollywood. You’ll also know the companies that are the best buyer for your story. But you’re not a best-selling author. How do you get Hollywood buyers to read your book and consider your work? That’s where Elizabeth comes in. In this module, she’ll reveal:

  • The secrets to selling your work to Hollywood and how to create a package that can’t be ignored, even by stubborn, “seen it all” Hollywood producers.
  • The 5 key questions you must ask before you send your package to an agency or studio.
  • How to bring a level of professionalism and value to your project that other industry outsiders won't.
  • The 3 most powerful and enticing elements of a professional package.
  • The key component every non-best-selling author needs to include in the package (but most don’t... totally ruining their chance of turning their book into a movie).
  • PLUS… Elizabeth will give you sample film and TV show treatments as well as sample loglines. In addition, she’ll provide you with a worksheet that will help you write your own treatment as expertly as if you were a Hollywood writer with 20 years' experience.

Module #6: "How To Close The Deal Like A Hollywood Veteran" with Katy McCaffrey

Katy McCaffrey has spent more than a decade working in many facets of the entertainment industry; from the agency desk to the producer’s chair, from feature film to reality TV. Most recently, she has been executive producing the new television series, Paging Dr. Freed, which she set up at USA Network and also the series, K9 Rhodes, a project that came through Voyage Media’s emerging talent program. As the Vice President of Watson Pond Productions, she successfully developed and brought to air shows for both network and cable.

If you follow the lessons from the previous modules, you’ll now have your package on the desks of the agencies and studios most likely to buy your work. But what do you do when the phone call comes and they want to talk money? In this session, Katy will show you how to sit at the negotiating table without being intimidated and give you the information and confidence you need to know you’re making the best deal for yourself, without getting ripped off. Katy will explain:

  • The differences between making a TV deal, a feature deal and an internet deal.
  • How to ensure a fair deal for yourself—even when you’re the least experienced negotiator at the table.
  • The biggest upper hand you have for negotiating with Hollywood (and how to leverage it for all it is worth to strike the best deal for yourself).
  • How to determine the most important parts of a deal… and what parts of the deal you can ignore and not worry about.
  • Things you can bring to the deal table that greatly improve your odds of selling your book to a studio.
  • How to protect your work so it doesn’t get stolen.

Joe Rosenberg, former power-agent at CAA

John Leekley, TV showrunner/executive producer/screenwriter

Michael Garcia, Chief Creative Officer of Televisa USA; former Head of Drama at HBO

This is an invaluable chance to learn from a group of Hollywood veterans about any aspect of taking your book to the screen. Outside of this program, getting direct access to this many Hollywood executives would be practically impossible.

If you’re serious about turning your book into a movie or TV show, then getting access to this one group panel discussion alone is worth investing in the program.

An Incredible Opportunity for You to
Package and Develop Your Book for the
Big or Small Screen

Here are just some of the vital skills you’ll pick up during the program:

How to write an eye-catching logline - A logline is a short, one-sentence, "quippy" summary of your book that a movie producer can understand. It’s totally different from what you would present to a publishing agent. It paints a picture that motivates movie producers to take the next step and read your summary.

How to craft a compelling book summary in Hollywood speak - You’ll also discover how to write a two- to three-paragraph breakdown of your entire story. You’ll generate your own analysis: What about YOUR story will make it work as a movie or TV series? What are the essential elements any screen adaption of it needs to have, and what could cost- and time-conscious producers easily cut? This summary helps Hollywood professionals start to “see” your work onscreen in practical, workable ways.

How to shape a stellar story treatment - Your treatment is the actual screen version of your story. It’s not a summary; it’s a new, 7-to-10-page story based on your book. Treatments aren’t screenplays, but “shorthand” describing your story’s screen version.

How to evaluate a screenplay - While this program isn’t a screenwriting course, by the time you’ve finished it, you’ll have a deeper understanding of what makes good screenplays work, as well as a confident grasp on what needs to go into any screenplay based on your material.

PLUS... You’ll walk away with...

  • Maher Jafari’s How To Determine The Best Market For Your Book Worksheet. Just answer the questions and easily determine your book’s best possible market. Maher’s innovative worksheet is the quickest way to make your book-to-screen journey a painless one!

  • Bristol Baughan’s Best Buyers Flowchart Worksheet. This tool helps you hone in on the best potential buyers for your project.

  • Samples, samples, samples! Proven, real-life samples of movie and TV show treatments… loglines from popular films… treatment templates… and so much more!
PLUS… Ask Your Most Pressing Questions and Get Expert Feedback in Monthly Phone Calls with Nat Mundel or a Hollywood Insider from His Team for 3 Months

Once a month for three months, you’ll get a bonus Q&A phone conference in which Nat or one of his esteemed colleagues will personally answer your questions. The GREAT thing about these bonus Q&A calls is, not only will Nat answer YOUR questions, you’ll hear the questions and concerns of many other authors packaging their books to get ready to shop to Hollywood.

And EVERY CALL IS RECORDED, so if you can’t be on the phone with Nat and his team or you miss one of the Question and Answer Calls, you can listen to the recordings at your leisure.

The Best Part Of The Program
Is The Incredible Low Price...
